overheating

You need to go back and undo everything you did. All you have done is totally mess up the computer and fuel mixture. That car is SUPPOSED to run hot at idle. It's designed that way. The fans aren't even programmed to come on before about 226 degrees. With that 160 thermostat the computer will not go into closed loop and the mixture will be totally messed up along with you fuel mileage. This is not your old Chevy and cannot be treated like one.

well we did tis before we even put that thermostat in it it ran hot with no thermostat in it and it don't run hot at idle it runs hot while driving it and after sitting for a while

You CANNOT run anything but a 195 T-stat in that car or your asking for more trouble.

well thats what we had in it first and ran hot still so then we went to the 160

so if i put the 195 back in it and it runs hot still what do i need to do

I don't know what your calling hot. It is normal for this engine to see 220 to 222 degrees.
If you had a previous overheating (over 230), you may have a blown head gasket now.

when i say hot the light comes on and flashes that the engine is hot

You should have it chemically and pressure tested for a blown head gasket.
