Hi.
I need to know how far the inner seal (rubber lined cup) goes onto the output shaft of the transmission. I can't find a spec for this anywhere. It is not covered in the Haynes Manual or on the Alldata website. I did manage to remove the old one without the use of the $288 GM tool, but I am not sure about reinstalling it. It gets pressed on and the old one was pressed in a little too far from what I could see.
The seal kit is GM Part # 24203910 (Photo 0005). I am working on the driver's side (photo 0004) shaft is still in tranny and supposedly not a stub shaft.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

thesmaller seal shoul d b driven in until it seats or almost seats. the larger seal should be driven in flush with the case. Make sure that the spring faces towards the transmission otherwise it will leak......

Thanks to hmac300..super fast reply and good info. Just thought I'd let folks know what I found out by accident. To install the inner seal onto the axle shaft they say you need an installation tool...maybe so, however a 1 1/8 12 point deep well Craftsman socket fits inside the inner seal PERFECTLY! Tight fit and the socket only presses on the metal lip inside the seal and is deep enough to seat the seal properly.
Hope this helps somebody.
Thanks again hmac300!
