1997 Buick Lesabre Air ride suspension

O.K. I replaced my rear air ride struts with standard struts and per advice I removed the large fuse (marked ELC / SPARE) in the right hand fuse panel on the the right rear side of the engine compartment..The circuit is hot at all times..I do not understand the SPARE marking, however this is what it says on both the fuse panel and the fuse box cover..Everything seems to work fine, but I am wondering if removal of this fuse will affect any other components. ...I think the compressor may have smoked, as one of the struts was blown out, ..Does this make sense? Any suggestions, or verification that I am done with this task? Thanks

no, does not make sense. was the compressor confirmed as a failure????
these struts usually fail around 100k. normally.

the fuse is marked spare because the air ride was an option not standard equipment.

Thanks for your response...I have not confirmed the compressor as a failure, However,my question still is.. Can I consider this repair complete? Will the removal of the ELC fuse affect any other components, and is the air compressor under the trunk floor used for anything other than the rear air ride struts?

The fuse only controls the suspension. Pump only for the sturts.

As far as complete, you have modified the suspension away form factory and you will notice a difference in ride quality. I never reccomend this type of repair.

Thanks for your quick response. I do not normally modify from factory, however in this particular situation, and the condition of the vehicle, It was my most economical and practical choice...Thanks again,
