Hello, my temperature guage keeps going from normal to hot, stays there for a for about 30 seconds then goes back to normal. There are no other warning lights, no smell of overheating, no smoke from under hood and it has coolant. Does this no matter the temperature outside or how long I've been driving it. My air bag light is on but was told that is a sensor gone wrong. Could this just be a sensor also since there are no other signs besides the temp gauge?

Have the cooling fan clutch inspected, When it warms it should engage, yes the cooling fan does wear out, also the coolant level ,when its low it does this also ,so you need to check for coolant leaks especially at the seam of the radiator

Doubt it is the sensor, but the wiring could be at risk, and I agree with my associate that stated the fan clutch could be at risk, also at that age and mileage, the radiator is suspect, inspect it for signs of coolant leaks as well as the expansion tank.
