would it be advisable to add an engine restore additive to a volvo 850 2.5l 10v glt 1996 done 147000. if so which brand or type would suit

There is really no such thing as "Mechanic in a Can". What are you trying to fix? Some additives have small benefits as preventatives but rarely cure any type of problem.
