just bought ba 96 volvo failed bsmog badly too much pollutants what can i do?

You need to find out what exactly was the reason for "too much pollutants". There's different kinds and this'll tell you what direction to take for diagnosis.

Also, always make sure the car is tuned up before you go to take a smog test.
