Hello, I'm attempting to replace the starter in my Jetta. The old one came out without any problems. While installing the new one, I figured out the bottom of the front mounting bracket shifted just a few millimeters and won't accept the bottom starter bolt. It catches, then pops right back out. I can't seem to align this bottom hole. Do you have any tips to get this thing aligned?

Hi,

The easiest thing to do is align things using a long screwdriver. Simply move things around to align. See if that helps.

Also, here is a link you may find helpful. It explains how in general to replace a starter. You can use this as a guide.

If you look at the attachments below, they are the directions specific to your vehicle for replacement.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Hello,

To replace the starter, you will have to tilt the engine little bit.

I have attached the replacement procedure, have a look at it to see if you might have missed a step.
