I think the clutch is slipping. First thing to do perhaps is check the fluid level in the clutch reservoir. Agreed? If yes where is the reservoir and what type of fluid should be used?

If the clutch is slipping it is not because of fluid level. That would keep the clutch from dis-engaging and make it hard to put into gear.
You need to replace your clutch. I would suggest a kit that comes with;
pressure plate
clutch plate
throwout bearings
pilpot bearings

Also have the flywheel re-surfaced.
