Where is the power steering pressure sensor/switch located?

Look Joe. And the rest of the Car Experts. Apologies. Why? Because I thought it would be easy to be a blue-collar car guy. I would look at repair manuals, grab my toolbox that consisted mostly of assorted size pliers and butter knives. I would make my car smooth, save money.
I have a fellow Taurus Owner who seems to Know a lot of stuff about my car listed above OHV V6 GL. I'm doing small repairs under his watch. Question? Where does my brand power steering pressure sensor/switch go? I assumed it goes on the Power Steering Pressure Hose. I've also been told that there is a spot on the Rack and Pinion Gear Box. Please help. Can't find a definitive answer anywhere.

Hi,

Actually, this isn't an easy one to find, so don't beat yourself up over not finding it. LOL

If I recall correctly, in 1996 it is located at the top of the rack and pinion. Take a look at the pic below and let me know if that is where it is located.

Joe. I knew I wasn't wasting my time with you. The pressure hose is made for a couple of different vehicles and the threaded hole on the power steering pressure hose connects to other hoses on certain vehicles. So, all i have to do is jam a wad of gum into the hole and then duct tape the other side of the hose to the hole on the rack and pinion box.
Seriously though, the spot on the hose can be capped with a small fine threaded plug and the other end of the hose goes into the port on the top of the rack and pinion box. I have the pieces needed with new o rings. Should I use some Teflon tape on the threads, or just ratchet them down until tight? (I'm not so good at plumbing either. Have a hard time between snug and strip.) And while you're on a roll, could you fix the gas price nonsense? It's not funny anymore.

Hi,

Now, as far as the Teflon tape is concerned, absolutely that would be a good idea. Anything to help prevent taking things apart again. As far as the hose, I don't see why capping off the port not needed would hurt anything. It should be fine. However, well, um, the gum/duct take idea may not last too long. LOL
