Typically clock springs are a dealer-only item, but if they tell you it's no longer available, you can find them at any salvage yard. Look for a donor car of the same year and model to be sure you get the right part. With no old one to look at, you'll have to go by application. Most notably, clock springs can be different depending on whether the car has cruise control or radio switches in the steering wheel.

When you do have an old one to look at, if you find a replacement with the same part number on it, you know it is a direct replacement. Very often there are design changes that warrant a different part number, but they work in the same applications. That's why when you order a new part through the dealer, it can have a different part number.
