Cracked Block

i have a 1996 saturn SL2 and it has a crack in the block and leaks engine coolant like crazy and its really starting to annoy me, runs fine thought... my dad is a mechanic and has tried everything to fix it, we cant weld it thought because it is an aluminum block, please help

How did the block get cracked?Did you overheat it real bad?I have never really seen these blocks just crack for no reason.

i dont know... since hes a mechanic he sometimes gets cars that no one wants to spend the money to fix so he buys it off them and fixes it and sells them.. but he had this when i got my licance so he gave it to me, and i wanted it because it was stick... and i gues he got it like that, but i really want to get this fixed becasue just lately its been getting really bad.. i can smell the coolant sometimes when i get out of the car :/

i that might be kind of hard... i cant even see it when im looking for it... but i gues i could try to try to stick a camera down that and try to get lucky.... but its night right now (idk bout you but...) ill try to get a pick if i can though when i can.... but when he was trying to fix it he said it was just a hair line crack, but im sure its gotten worse :\

Iam no expert on welding but you can weld aulimuim if it just a hair line crack you could try cleaning it up drying it and jb welding it you have nothing to loose at this point.

If the block is cracked and leaking you will have to do something about it.
