starter key stuck on

Hello, I am currently driving a 1996 Saturn SL its my father's he is out of town and left me his car cause mine is broken. So now so is his.. Any way I cant get the key to turn back to turn off the car. So when i stop and turn it off i have to stall the car then put on emergency brake so the lights don't stay on but the battery and seat belt and brake lights are still on the dash. Its almost like its jammed. Is this fixable if so where do i start to look to see what it is that needs to be unstuck? Thank you
