My favorite Open Astra;s fuel pump is dead and according to the mechanic it cannot be repaired. A new fuel pump is so expensive that it is equal to 20-25% of the car's book value. Although it is an old car but in awesome shape and driving it a great pleasure. Moreover, the entire family is attached to this car with huge sentimental value.

I do not want to scrap this car but do not wish to spend 20-25% of car's value for the fuel pump. Till date, I am unable to find a similar fuel pump from the scrap market or second hand parts dealers.

Please advise the way out. Does fuel pumps of other vehicles can work? What is the most inexpensive option available?

Check the Rock Auto web site. The engine size you listed is not an option, so I had to guess. I looked up a 1.8L and there's two pumps listed for a very reasonable price. I paid just slightly less for a pump for my '88 Grand Caravan a year ago.
