Battery Problems

Check and test the battery postive cable could be grounded out at the starter motor or at the alternator

As I already mentioned in my question, I didn't changed anything on the cables, these cables are the original cables inserted by Mitsubishi. My problem is, that out of the blue, while the only thing that is changed are the battery clams, this problem occurred. If these cables would be connected in the wrong way, I should have had earlier problems right? I will check once again were these cables are attached to, but I am 100% sure that the positive cable is not grounded at the starter or the alternator since the cable goes the opposite way of these two.

Disconnect the negative battery cable if the burning stops it has a short circuit somewhere-The positive cable goes straight to the starter motor.Possible a relay is sticking-

Okay, thanks will try. So to be clear, I should just connect the positive, leave the negative off and if the burning stops, it's a relay problem? I should do this without a running car right? Just watch how it will react on the positive cable only.

Check the starter solenoid if its shorting out-You have a short somewhere causing the battery positive post to get hot-disconnnecting the negative cable will open the circuit and stops the burning-
