Where is the Bleeder valve on a 96 Lexus es 300? do you just use the radiator cap to bleed, if so how do you do that?

Does the lexus es 300 have more than one radiator drain ****?


Also I just bought my 96 Lexus with 127,000 miles on it and was wondering do I need to change the thermostat? how do you tell if the thermostat works correctly?

Vehicle is not equipped with bleeder bolts. Use the radiator cap to bleed. Remove cap with cold egine and top up as necessary.

Close radiator cap and start engine and allow to idle for 5 minutes. Allow engine to cool before opening radiator cap to recheck level. Repeat process if necessary. Check for leaks if coolant is depleting.

If the thermostat is working correctly, the temperature gauge would be constant and does not fluctuate with A/C operating or not.

If you have coolant in system, the thermostat is less likely to require replacement as the coolant is a form of lubricant and protectant for the thermostat.

Thank you for the quick response.. So to understand correctly, I should basically just put in coolant and put the cap back on and run the engine, am I just waiting for a air bubble or something or do I just fill the radiator and repeat that process until the radiator and reservoir are full?

If the coolant level is very low, top up coolant and start engine, if coolant level drops, top up as necessary. DO NOT run for more than 5 minutes with radiator cap off as the coolant can come shooting out when the thermostat is not open yet while the coolant in engine has heated up. The thermostat requires the system to be under pressure to work correctly.
