What's wrong with it? How to fix it? And how much is it going to cost? Thanks

Hey I have a ford laser 1996 model 4 cyl auto, the hold light on the dash is flashing at me and the transmission is all out of Wack and revs too high before taking off, sometimes up past 7000 revs and doesn't move for 6 or so seconds then takes off rough, what's wrong with it? How to fix it? And how much will it cost?
