what is the warning lamp underneath the park brake indicator lamp on the dash of 1996 EL Falcon

i bought the car used and did not get a manual. I was told that it may be break level fluid warning. I checked fluid and it was low however i have filled it and light is still on

Check the system for leaks. If there are no obvious external leaks, press the brake pedal firmly, with the engine off, and hold it. The pedal should not sink to the floor. If it does, you have a bad master cylinder. Only apply enough pressure to the pedal to hold it down, don't apply enough pressure to force it to the floor.

That's an idea CJ. It may also be that the float is filled with brake fluid, not allowing it to rise.

Either one could be correct. The fluid in your master cylinder will drop as the brake pads wear. So, the MC may be fine and no leaks found. If the light continues to stay on, check to make sure it is not refering to the park brake. The switch could be stuck or bad. It is located near the parking brake pedal. Check that too. One last thing, can you tell me if any other lights are staying on?

Technically, this picture isn't of a Jeep. It's a Vehicle, Wheeled, Multi-Purpose, by Willys-Overland. The Jeep Corporation didn't come into existence until well after your beauty was built.

Wow. You can tell these were built to be worked on by just about any GI behind the front lines. Valve sizes and clearance, plus the firing order. The vehicle in the picture was unofficially known as the General Purpose vehicle, and affectionately known as the Jeep, after the Popeye character that could go anywhere.
