FORD EXPLORER 96 LIMITED EDITION GEAR PROBLEM

I have an Ford Explorer 96 Model, Limited Edition. Since yesterdaY, I am facing a problem in Gear. The description of the problem is:

When I start my CAR, and put the Gear in Reverse, the car going reverse without any problem, But when I changed it to D, the car is not able to go forward. So I changed the Gear to position 1 and it starts to move forward. After covering some distance, I shifted the Gear into D, and the car move normally, even I Stop at traffic signal, there is no need to change back the GEAR from D to 1.
There is problem only while starting the car. IS there any problem in the GEAR FILTER OR GEAR OIL? Can you help me what will be the reason for this problem.

Well,

I just looked for my Daughter's Explorer Chilton Manual....Looks like she listened for once, it's in her rig in a big ziplock bag, in case I or someone else needs to repair it, on the roadside! It's With her at work!

So........You been keeping up with Scheduled maintenance, as prescribed in a repair manual?---For the entire truck?

I was going to give you the tranny filter interval--book not here!

If you have just been-a-drivin'....Just addin' gas.....Carefree.....Maybe it's time to Service the long neglected tranny!!!!!

Supposed to do it anyway!.....How many intervals have been missed?

Maybe it's not too late, and that will straighten it out!

Or maybe it won't, and you think bad of me?

My two are 35 and 65 years young respectively...Both are daily drivers...PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE IS THE KEY!!!--Fix stuff, as it happens, you won't be afoot! You won't wonder whether your rig will last or not.

Please get you a repair manual and read the "Scheduled Maintenance" Section.....The rest will show you how to fix it!

I do this for a hobby, to help, not to make people mad...Some people just need a little Airborne Ranger Motivation!

I mainly enjoy getting a response...especially a Positive one!
