The Ford Contour transmission will fit across many engine blocks. Even some V-6 Trannys will bolt up to a Inline 4 tranny. The CD4E can be swapped with an 4EAT-G.
You should be able to find this transmission designation stamped near the lip where the tranny and the engine bolt together.
The transmission number might also be found in the engine code which can be found stamped on the engine block or the firewall.
