1996 Chrysler Town and Country Door Ajar light

The dash light for 'Door Ajar' suddenly came on and stayed on. All doors secure. By schematic in Haynes manual, I identified all wires for the door switches AT the BCM (Body Control Module) and verified that they were ALL showing ground or open properly, depending on door position. Could the BCM be the culprit? Or does the PCM (POWERTRAIN Control Module) fit into this picture somehow? (My diagram does not show (or I simply cannot FIND) which module turns the light on. Or any other help or ideas you might have would be greatly appreciated.

have it scanned for a bcm it would need to be configured to your car by a pro anyhow

Thanks for the quick reply. I apologize, but I don't understand what you mean by "have it scanned FOR a BCM, it would have to be programmed for your car anyway."
1.) FOR a BCM? I know where the BCM is, I pulled the mass connectors off to access and check the door switch wiring.
2.) Programmed FOR my car? It is the OEM unit! Why would that need programming??

I have the most expensive scanner available from AutoZone and it (for some reason) only reads Pcm codes. Can't seem to make it access the Bcm.

bcm or body control module you need to scan the sytem to see if that is the screw up causing your door ajar as well as lights staying on. even if the bcm is for your car they are vin specific meaning they have to be programmed to your car. if you switch with someone else car they won't work or work correctly

A.) I am certain that this BCM is the OEM unit and therefore IS a VIN-specific MATCH to the vehicle. But I understand that if I get a used one from a U-Take-It-Off yard that it will have to be programmed. Same thing with the radios, if I remember correctly. All things tie together with the alarm system.

B.) Am I gonna hafta take this sucker to Chrysler to get the BCM tested? And apparently you DO think the BCM is the likely culprit, right?

een if you get a new bck=m or rebuilt one they have to be programmed and no any garage with a pro scanner can do this
