I have a 1996 chevy s10 with the 2.2 ltr. I'm getting a whisling/whining from somewhere around the egr valve. It's effecting the car under pressure meaning it idles perfectly and with no noises but when I start to go there's a consistent whining and it's not allowing me to accelerate properly. I did have a disconnected vacuum hose going to the valve cover but even with reattach in it I still get the whine. Then I checked the oil and I was a quart low but that didn't fix it either. I recently replaced the brake booster which went bad and when I replaced it the truck ran great for about to weeks and then I started getting this whine/whistling noise. The codes were miss fires on cylinder one and too rich of air/fuel ratio so I initially thought of a vacuum leak but I can't find one. This whining sound maybe internal or perhaps the egr valve? Any help would be appreciated.

check for a broken hose going to brake booster and vacuum leaks so check other h oses as well for broken or disconnected.
