I have a 96 cadillac. its has the 32 valve northstar in it. The fist start takes a while to start, but once it starts it runs good. every time time i go and start it it dose this. i will let it run for a while and shut it of then go and start it agine , it has no problem. but when it sits over night and when i go and start it, it dont want to start. it dose have a crank but wont turn over easey.

Pull the source vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator, and check for liquid fuel to be present. What happens is a faulty regulator will eventually allow the residual fuel rail pressure to bleed into the intake system. The result is extra fuel in the engine at start up, resulting in long crank, possibly some smoke out the tailpipe, and a raw fuel smell.
