I have received this code, "P0717 Input/Turbine Speed Sensor A Circuit not receiving a signal."

Where is this signal being taken from? The trans seems to be running fine. After I check the codes I erase them. It can take minutes to days before the code comes back. If I drive on the freeway it doesn't give a code, it only occurs when I am driving in-town. I rarely take my cars to anyone else to work on them. i haven't had a transmission this new open before. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I forgot to add that I have just changed the fluid and filters thinking this would help to clear the fault. The fault seems to show up randomly. Out of curiosity do you know how many miles the 4T80-E will normally go without trouble.

Thanks again.

the input speed sensor is in the trans in the side cover, the sensor could be bad or you also have other troubles

the trans can last forever if you take care of it regularly, and if you say you changed the filter you must have droped the trans out of the car because the filter is in the side pan

every 30k miles you need a trans flush, it replaces all the fluid

I didn't have to remove the trans to replace both filters. Matter of fact I opened the trans twice because I missed the second filter.

What is invloved in replacing the Transaxle Input speed sensor? One mechanic said it is a 13 hour job and the Transmission needs to be pulled...

Is there a easier way?
