I have a 1996 Buick Regal 3.8. The Check engine light is on for code P0140. Which is oxygen sensor, bank 1, sensor 2, the sensor after the converter. So i went online and bought one for $20 and put it in. The light did not go off so i went back to autozone and the code P0141 and P0140 came up. After a month, i finally got to the junkyard and found a decent sensor that was the same. I had to rewire the plug, (wires could be wrong, but im pretty sure there right). The light is still and i took it back to Autozone and the same two codes came up. Whats the next step? And can the wiring be wrong, hurt the O2 sensor?

Thank You In Advance

if you don't erase teh code when the part is put on it will keep the check engine light on until after 50 or more starts. when a mechanic fixes these he erases the code and i'm not sure autozone will.

Well when i did put in the $20 oxygen sensor from the internet, it was in there for a month or 2. Defiantly more than 50 starts. And Autozone will not

Alright, now if the wires have been hooked up wrong, can that cause the oxygen sensor to break?

it woldn't break but he heater may not work and it would send the wrong signal to the pcm. it certainly wouldn't do any good. it might blow a pcm fuse as well or the pcm.

Okay so if i did switch the wires, just the heater wires, and then the wires for thee PCM, it could possibly fix my issue?

the codes will have to be cleared after what you did and hard telling if it will fix your issue until you drive it. Ikind of doubt it.
