the starter wont turn over the engine after acting weird. Ive read a lot of scenarios on this in your discussions section. I know Im getting blind but I can't see how to get that plastic cover over the starter bolts off. The one that's sandwiched between the starter and what looks like a cross member.

you have to remove nuts on a/c compressor exhaust manifold and anything else that is in the way. REmove nut from engine cross brace then pry engine upwardand rearward and support engine. if necessary remove oil filter, induction tube and cooling fan. if equipped remove flywheel cover, remove electrical from starter remove bolts from starter and replace. reverse for reassy

Thanks for the help but a sawsall solved the problem. I now have a new problem of the car not starting after replacing the starter. It turns over but that's all its doing. Do I need to invest in the tool that reads the computer? Is there a possibility of a relay or something that can cause this? I haven't even wanted to look under the hood of these newer cars I've owned so I have a lot of catching up to do. When I retire I won't be able to pay mechanics to do the work. Your help on this site has been great.
heres an update that lead to where I'm at. Left the house and the car seemed a little gutless. It felt like it didn't shift all the way to high. The check engine light came on. Felt like still losing power and now check engine light is flashing. Got turned around and made it home. Shut it down. When I tried to restart the starter wouldn't turn over. Checked for frozen motor and it turned so I replaced the starter (used). Had to really put a charge to the battery to get the starter to engage and spin. Now the car just turns over without starting.
Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated and at least taking the time to read all this.

Hello,

It sounds like you have lost spark or fuel pressure.

Here is a guide that will help you run down the possibilities and do some testing to get the problem fixed.

Please run some tests and get back to us we are interested to see what it is.
