my abs light is is coming on periodically

Since my check engine light has came on and i feel no difference in the brake pedal what could be wrong? i feel no difference in the pedal

abs only works in a skid situation otherwise brakes feel normal. have codes read to see if wheel sensor is malfunctioning and any other reasons for CEL.
