seems plausable to me. as long as you dont carelessly do unnecesary damage.

reason i asked the question there a small end section on the gearbox and a volvo mechanic couldnt remember if you had to remove the section to fit new seal cause needs a gasket from sweden if the end section needs to be removed but thanks for your help

you can generally make your own gasket by buying the raw material or use a gasket sealing compound if necessary. i myself stopped being a "purist" long ago. saves time and money.
