i have a 1995 subaru justy and from time to time it hesitates when driving preventing me from accelerating or going up hills/inclines smoothly. when i take it to my mechanic, he usually changes the points and it's fine after that until it happens again. what is a permanent solution to this issue?

Are you sure he replaces the points? I don't think Subaru used points since the late 70's, and they were one of the last manufacturers that used them.

Let me know.

well, that's what he says he does each time. mind you the same thing happens over again so really not sure what's causing this problem even though it's been checked and dealt with to no avail. i'm wondering if even the E-10 gas could be causing the problem.

IF it has points and condenser, then it isn't uncommon for them to go bad. Tell him to make sure the power to the distributor is within spec. Too much power can burn up the points / condenser.

As far as the repair, the parts shouldn't be more than 20.00.

As far as a 95 Justy, I haven't seen them for so long, I didn't realize they still made them. There is no listing in my repair manuals. Are you sure it's a 95?

i am aware that the points have to be changed from time to time but will check out the suggested power to besupplied to the distrbutor in the manual. A new condenser was put in a month ago. It is a 95 justy since that was what was on the title when i bought it 10 years ago. In Jamaica, we drive a lot of used cars from Japan like Subaru Justys.

They do need replacement from time to time, but they should last at least 30K
