While son was driving his pathfinder, he was turning into the neighborhood (car in neutral), braked to slow and lost power steering and then steering came back - car did not turn off or make any noises. Next day, he was stopping at a stop sign (car in neutral) braked and couldn't turn the steering wheel. (Again no noise). He turned the car off and back on and everything worked.

He said that while he "lost" power steering his check engine soon light came on yellow, oil light came on and another light.

I have been told it might be the brake booster?

Thanks for any help!

first thing to do is check belt and adjustment it may be a little loose causeing your problem. then have your power steering pump pressure checked first. everything we list for a pathfinder is a vacuum booster so would not effect power steering. cold be a a steering gear going bad or an engine problem where the engine quit running causing that. also try this on link.
