1995 Nissan Pathfinder My horn doesn't work

My horn stopped working. If I press really hard in a certain spot it works somewhat, just a toot. My mechanic took everything apart and claims that the problem is the horn contacts, 2-3 pins that seem to be attached to a plate with a hole in the middle. However they can't seem to get the part number for these contacts it appears (from pictures) that these pins a re a part of this plate that appear to be a part of the steering column. This whole thing seems to be wrong to be. I read the communication from someone who appeared to have the same problem, but wasn't clear on the instructions to fix the problem any suggestions?
