I have a hose that's coming off of the transmission/lower engine block on the battery side of the car. Don't know where to reconnect this hose, also would this prevent the car from starting?

Hi,

Based on your description, it sounds like you are referring to the charcoal canister. The canister is designed to hold gas fumes from the fuel tank to prevent them from being emitted into the atmosphere. Under predetermined conditions, a valve is opened allowing the vapors to enter the combustion chamber.

If you look below, I attached a pic of the vacuum schematics for this vehicle. I highlighted the canister. Check that area for a hose that is disconnected.

As far as no start is concerned, chances are this wouldn't cause it. If the engine is cranking but not starting, take a look through this link. It explains the most common causes of a crank no start condition.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
