Jeep Security reset

Im a little confused, so in the morning when you get in the vehicle the battery is dead? Security system activates because you jump start it? Unless the system is staying on draining the battery, I would say that it is time to have the battery load tested, because it is probaly time for replacement.

Sorry for the confusion....When going to start in the morning, security system engages and vehicle will not start. Am able to jump start after turning key in driver's door to turn off security system. After driving around for the day, car starts at grocery store, work, and is okay...until the next morning when starting the security goes off again. Thanks for your help, will look for your reply. G

Hi guys. I think the reasoning is backwards. If the security system is activated, jump-starting isn't going to change anything. It needs a jump-start because something drained the battery overnight. The same thing would happen if you disconnect the battery and reconnect it. The security system will be activated, you unlock either front door with the key, then start it up like normal.

I have a '93 Dynasty that I only drive once every other year or so and each time I plug in the smaller positive cable, the lights are flashing, I unlock the door, hop in and drive away.

I think a load test on the battery is the right approach. If it's good and not too old, disconnect the negative cable when you park it for the night. If it will crank the engine in the morning after reconnecting it and unlocking the door, suspect a drain from something that isn't turning off. If it still needs a jump-start, you know it can't be a drain if it was disconnected so it has to be a defective battery.

had the load test done 2x now and all is well. Battery is 2 years old and once I get the vehicle started for the day it works well. It is the overnight that is doing it. After the security goes off in the morning, I turn it off. If I attempt to start again, the car will not turn over, and the security again kicks in. It is when I reset the security and jump start that it works. Can try the disconnect if you think this will help, but would of course ultimately look to solve. Thank you

I still dont get the jump starting part, what if you walk to the jeep in the morning, manually unlock the door, get in and start it, what happens?

haven't tried that yet...don't need to lock the door where I live so I leave it unlocked. But have left it unlocked after stopping at post office for example, turning engine off and starts right up when getting back in a few minutes later.
