Where is the spare tire located on a 1995 Jeep Cherokee? I found the jack under the back seat. I've tried to lift the floor panel in the hatch but that seems to be bolted down.

I bought it used. Everyone keeps telling me it is either under the floor in the back "hatch" area or underneath on the outside. But the floor panel seems to be bolted down and underneath it is like a gray box with two metal straps. It may not have a spare but I'd at least like to know where it should be to look before going more expensive routes like calling a tow truck to get it home.

There are two metal straps around it that are welded to the frame of the vehicle.

I been-a-helpin' you fixitmr!

Many of them are external spares, like I'm used to on the/ my CJs.

Maybe the external bracket was removed, and there is no spare (look for holes in the body and bumper)....Some people were born dumb, and think their tires are invicible, till they have a flat, and realize they should have left it on there!

You are doing good!!!! insuring you are ready and capable, another good hint: make sure all of the lug nuts fit in your "tire tool", they are all the same size, no "locking nuts" and you have the correct jack and the lift-points are not messed up on the under-carriage. Nothing like having everything, but it is useless!

I did see one, towards the bottom of the link, with compartment covered with carpet.....Can you send us a pic of the possible compartment? Maybe some closer--ups of the edges? It's really EZ to do!

Have you found any kinda Placard on/ under the carpet---I reckon you do not have an owners manual, it would say something there (I will see if I can view the owners manual online, I've had bad luck in the past on others)

I am more at home with the CJs, but I will try more!

deejinthecity,

So sorry I have not checked on you sooner!

'Lot been going on on my end, I've been getting in late, working on my little 1960s Army Jeep Trailer (about 4'X 6'), Sorta now like a small pop-up camper in the works! I have a pic with the cover my buddy made w/ sheet metal, in the down/ travel position...Still working on the bed part, w/ storage under, got my 5 yr. old Grand-monster assisting.

This is like a soap opera here---WHERE IS THE DANGED SPARE SUPPOSED TO BE/ OR DID YOU FIND IT????

WE DO LIKE TO SEE WHAT THE OTHER JEEP PEOPLE HAVE---SEND A PIC OF YOURS!
