95 Jeep XJ sputtering

I have a 95 jeep xj. It started sputtering and I saw a lack of power. I put a tune up in it (plugs, wire, distributor and rotor). The sputtering and lack of power went away. I took it out 4-wheeling and got on the throttle hard a couple of times and the sputtering and lack of power came back. I checked all tune up parts, exhaust and intake manifolds, they all look fine. You can't adjust the timing but it has a power control module, could this be the problem?

The power train control module (PCM) is the Engine Computer that runs the fuel injection and emissions systems. They don't fail very often on Chrysler products. It's more likely you have a sensor problem which should be detected by the PCM. Some sensors can CAUSE a running problem and some sensors REPORT the results of a running problem. The place to start is by having any stored diagnostic fault codes read and recorded. Many auto parts stores will do that for you for free. That should be done as soon as possible. If the problem doesn't act up very often, those codes will erase automatically after 50 engine starts, then that valuable information will be lost.
