i have a 95 GMC vandura that i changed the brakes on and after i changed them my brakes light came on. when i checked the fluid levels the front resevoir was empty, so i filled it up but the light stayed on so i loosened the line on the back of the master cylinder and fluid came out normally but when i loosened the front line of the master cylinder nothing would come out so stuck a nail in it to see if it was something stuck in it and it felt like something in it was stuck. should i change the master cylinder?

you need to find the reason it is empty first. check all the lines and the rear wheels as well. you have air in the lines. leave the fitting loose till fluid comes out

thanks ASEMaster6371 but what if i did that and the front resevoir still wont let fluid out? if i take a small nail and push it into the front of the cavity on the front line to the master cylinder fluid comes out but it feels like theres something stuck when i push the nail in. thats the only way fluid will come out.

thats a check valve in the master.

did you check the rest of the system??

me and my brother bled the brake line but the light still stayed on. thats what made me check the line on the master cylinder plus when i checked it the front resevoir was completly empty so i filled it up but the only way to get fluid out was to use the nail.
