oil leak

1995 ford countour 4 cyclinder auto.

I have oil spraying from the back on my engine "head". can i just tighten the bolts and hope the the gasket is still okay?
my oil level has not dropped significantly for the 3 weeks i've had the but it is enough oil that i cannsee it when i move my car.

Locate oil switch see if it is the leak. if coming from between head and block then will need headgasket

additionally, can this happen if there is too much oil in the engine, and if so do i simply drain the excess. I have been checkin gthe dip-stick and it seem the the oil might be a little above the max mark. it's hard to tell sometimesi rub it on the side when i take sit out.
