Any tips on how to get the starter out of the engine...without jacking up the motor?

What is it hitting? I looked at my database, It looked straight forward. Can you remove the starter solenoid, then the starter? Maybe a helper could rock the engine one way or the other, don't get you hand caught. I just can't see much from here.
