Why does my car stall when i turn the heater on?

I just had the alternator replaced 3 days ago.. the car see,s to idle fine but i seem to hear a very faint whining noise barely noticeable and the cars idle goes up and down almost stalling the car.. Sometimes the car just stalls with the heater on.. The car idles and starts fine with heater off...
