Has the check engine light come on? Have you had the computer scanned?

Check fuel pressure. Check ignition timing. Check for vacuum leaks.

a mechanic looked at it and said it sounds like its something in the distributor he fixed it and ran fine for awhile now its doin it again

It sounds like a major vacuum leak or a sensor issue. Has the check engine light come on?

Vacuum leaks. Timing. Fuel pressure. In that order. Unplug the vacuum line to the distributor, plug it with a screw or golf tee and see what happens. If this fixes the issue, you need to rebuild the distributor baseplate.

how do u rebuild that and no lights

It isn't something that's very easy to describe. You have to pull the distributor out. The plate is usually screwed to the distributor base.

Try this first: remove the distributor cap and lightly spray the baseplate with WD-40 and allow to dry completely. Test drive the truck and see what happens. Check with your local Mopar dealer for a distributor rebuild kit. It should come with detailed instructions and good drawings. If not, find a Mopar club near you and ask if they have anyone that can rebuild it for you and that will do it for a 12-pack.
