You car has a crankshaft position sensor on the lower side of the block. Check out the diagrams (Below) for the location. There are both engine in the diagrams below just in case someone needs it. Please let us know what happens.

I don't think the MAP sensor will prevent it from starting-maybe cause it to run rich and burn more fuel and surging

Did you ever find out what was causing your issue? I'm going through the same thing now. Please let me know, I'm at a total loss here and have no idea what step to take next, except throwing countless dollars at it..

Thanks,
Mark

Have you removed the sensor? I am not understanding how there would be a hole if you haven't removed the old sensor.

Are you able to find the electrical connector? It should be hanging loose if there is no sensor in the engine

my crankshaft position sensor has damage to the plastic body where the wires go into the sensor and has about a 2 inch long crack in it, does this mean that the sensor is bad ??
I have read how to test the sensor and if it has low resistance to replace the camshaft sensor?? don't know if that is a type-o or not. I have already replaced the camshaft sensor and i still have no spark ??

Hi:
If the sensor is damaged, it will most likely be the problem. However, are you getting power to the coil? Also, if you remove the distributor cap and crank the engine, does the rotor spin?

That engine doesn't actually have a Crank Sensor. The part that does the same job is the hall effect sensor inside thew distributor. The distributor has to be removed and completely disassembled to replace that. You would need a portable lab scope to test it.
