Car will not start

What's the symptom? "Doesn't start" means about as much as "I'm in pain". Is it because I have a stomach ache, a hang nail, or I cut my foot off with a chain saw? Gotta have more information. Does the starter crank the engine but the engine doesn't start and run? Since you suspected the battery, do you mean the starter cranked the engine too slowly to start or it didn't crank it at all? Are the symptoms the same with the new battery.

Turn on the head lights, see how bright they are, then see what they do when you try to start the engine.

no the engine is not cranking at all. It did not crank with the old battery or the new one. Also I had the car security system come on when I opened the drivers side door while waiting on someone and had to call the Chrysler dealer here to get them to tell me how to reset it. After it was reset I drove home stopped the car and started it again later and drove it again to take a jacket back to my friend and everything was working fine then. But when I went out to start the car the next morning it would not start. All you get is the lights come on bright on the dash and just a click when key is turned to start not a grind like the starter is doing anything.

This is typical of worn contacts inside the starter solenoid. They can be replaced for 20 dollars, but most people just replace the entire starter. This always starts out as an intermittent problem. If you cycle the ignition switch to the "crank" position enough times, it will eventually crank the engine. The problem will get worse over time. The clue is a single kind of loud clunk from the starter each time you turn the ignition switch to "crank".

Does that mean you replaced the starter? Was it the little silver Nippendenso unit?

No we took the starter to have it checked and rebuilt and they rebuilt the solenoid.
