I have rebuilt my brakes twice no problem but after a car pulled out in front of me, in which, I had to slam on the brakes really hard to avoid hitting him and now my brake pedal goes way down and feels spongy like they need bleeding or something. I have heard that the proportioning valve might have gone bad or the metering valve. Question Has anybody had this situation or how to get my two inch andfirm pedal back?

If the brakes still work okay other than the soft pedal, you may have damaged the master cylinder. Check all rubber hoses in the front and make sure none of them are expanding when the brakes are applied too.
