S-10 back hatch wont open

I had one with the plastic end of the solenoid broken off that pulls on the latch lever. I can't remember why, but the key cylinder is involved with that too so it won't work from outside. You'll have to remove the trim panel from inside, then feel around near the center of the gate for the metal lever. It swivels down due to gravity. Swivel it back up and push it toward the passenger side to pop the latch.
