would the intake manifold make the car blow thick white smoke from the tail pipes

I was driving the car on the express way then all of a sudden it started losing power so i came of and when i came to a stop a bunch of white smoke started coming out the tail pipes.the car never shut off nor was it overheating and out never did . It let me drive home once the cargot up to speed with no smoke until i came to a stop i don't know if its the head gasket out the intake itself ..maybe sometimes had or heard of this problem before...
