which ehgine oil grade should i use?

Hello,
I own a 1995 bmw 740i (e38) with 200,000kilometers on milage i noticed the tapt cover gasket seal is leaking and got it replaced, but the leak is back but is not as bad as before ,i use castrol magnetic 10w40 oil.
my question is if i used a heavier oil like 20w50 from liquimoly regular, would that help my situation?

No, it would not. When there are leaks, any grade of oil would leak. You need to rectify the leak. check the installation and at certains areas, some sealant might be required.
