Sounds like there might be some busted plastic pieces in the cassette. There is a tool to crank in manually but there may be no point in trying to do so with the possible cassette issue, look in the tool kit for the sunroof tool, its a 4mm Allen and then pull down the surround for the sunroof to access the manual crank point.
