What could be causing this? I suspect the idle air control valve.Recently the car died while idling, and it wouldn't restart. After some troubleshooting I determined that the cat converter was plugged. I replaced it, but the car idles rough. I've also noticed that the engine temp is lower than normal.

Since the engine temp is low, I suspect that the car has been running rich, and that the gas in the exhaust ignited in the cat converter causing it to clog. Still can't figure out what is the cause for the rich mixture and if that same thing is causing the rough idle. Here are the things I've checked/replaced/cleaned while troubleshooting the rough idle.

Replaced clogged cat converter
Replaced fuel filter
Replaced cracked exhaust manifold
Replaced fuel injector seals
Replaced distributor cap and rotor
Replaced spark plugs
Replaced air filter
Replaced oil and filter
Checked for spark
Checked timing
Checked fuel pressure
Checked vacuum
Checked compression
Checked throttle position sensor
Cleaned throttle body
Cleaned air intake manifold
Cleaned idle air position sensor
Cleaned oxygen sensor

It sounds like you have an intake valve leaking causing the engine to sometimes misfire.
