speed sensor problems.

i had to replace the transmission in my 1994 nissan pickup. i bought and installed a 1995 transmission from an extended cab so i just needed to replace the drive shaft. it all works except the speedometer. my trucks old tranny used a speed sensor and the new transmission had a cable will the sensor work in the new transmission? what can i do?

that is done magnetically so you need to adapt it to that typ e of system. it wil probably require taking he housindg off and replacing the reluctor on the tail shaft of the trans.

Thank you for replying. heres some more information i forgot to include. The speed sensor runs off of a gear, the truck is FWD and the sensor is in the back of the transfer case.

as long as the transfer case will bolt to the other trans it should work unless it is a 2wd trans which would have a long tailshaft on it and the t-case wouldn't bolt up then

thanks for the the help but i asked my question wrong ill rephrase it sorry. can i swap the mechanical drive for the speedo to a speed sensor? either one bolts into the transfer case....is there a direct bolt in for that swap?

if you have electronic now andwant to go to a cable system the answer would be no
