I only have had this truck for about a month, so I don't know the history of it.
My problem is that the coolant is not heating up to normal operating temperature.
The temp. gauge barely registers and the heater only only blows luke warm air.
The temp gauge has been checked and works fine, and the thermonstat has been
replaced. Just worried that the truck is not running a efficiently as it could. What
else could cause this situtation. Should I be worried about?

DID YOU INSTALL THE THERMOSTAT?

WHAT TEMPERATURE RATING THERMOSTAT DID YOU INSTALL?

IS YOU COOLANT LEVEL FULL....IN THE RADIATOR?

HOW HOT ARE THE HEATER HOSES AS THE ENTER THE FIREWALL----AS COMPARED WITH THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE-------WHEN THE TRUCK HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR 10-15 MINUTES (AND SHOULD BE AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE)???

This is my question, don't know why it didn't fall under my login.
To answer your questions:
1. I had a shop install the thermostat
2. From the invoice, it looks like a 170 degree thermostat
3. Coolant level is full.
4. Heater hoses are not as hot as the upper radiator hose. They are just warm

Took it back to shop and they couldn't find any blockages,etc. One thing they did was to stop the fan from turning for about 10 minutes and the temp did rise.
The temp gauge rose and the heater blew hotter. Could it be something as simple as the fan clutch?

Just curious, the thermostat is located on the bottom hose, isn't that where the cool water enters the engine?

I JUST LOOKED UP BOTH ENGINES----A 180 DEGREE THERMOSTAT IS AVAILABLE FOR BOTH AT ADVANCE AUTO PARTS ONLINE .............I FIGGERED IT WOULDA HAD A 195?...I DIDN'T SEE IT AT THAT STORE....DID NOT LOOK ELSEWHERE

ARE YOUR FANS "HARD WIRED IN", IN THAT THEY RUN ALL OF THE TIME--WITH THE KEY ON? (POOR MAN'S FIX)

....OR ARE THEY THERMOSTATICALLY CONTROLLED AND ONLY COME ON AT A CERTAIN TEMP?

I AM ASSUMING THE HOSES WERE COOL ---THEN GOT HOT WITH THE FANS OFF

It's a mechanical fan with some type of clutch on it.
The heater hoses did get hot when the fan was not turning.
