1994 Mercury Cougar Engine Problem

Iam confuse i put the car in reverse and it goes and then i put it in drive and it got to jump to go then when it gets hot it dont move at all none of the gears but reverse.can you tell me whats wrong are what i need to fix.do you think it the transsion misstion prombles like the front pump is out are what is wrong???? HELP
